Review Many verbs have an object. The object receives the verb.
A verb that has an object is called TRANSITIVE. I kicked the door. I told the teacher. I told a story. I hurt my hand.

Review Not all verbs have objects. Not all verbs are TRANSITIVE.
Some verbs NEVER take objects. These verbs are called INTRANSITIVE. INTRANSITIVE verbs: I laughed. She died. NOT She died someone. I was a friend. I feel funny.

Passive Review What is the structure for passive? O + be + pp
If a verb has no object, it is impossible to make it passive! I laughed. X I was laughed. I died. X I was died.

Verbs with 2 objects Some verbs can have 2 objects.
Look at this structure: The OP of to can be renamed the INDIRECT OBJECT. She gave the present to me. My friend told the secret to 3 people. The teacher taught English to 12 students. INDIRECT OBJECTS

Verbs with 2 objects She gave the present to me. She gave me the present. My friend told the secret to 3 people. My friend told 3 people the secret. The teacher taught English to 12 students. The teacher taught 12 students English. We can use these indirect objects in a different way. S + V + I.O. + O

bring give hand take offer send It is commonly used with verbs in 3 categories. 1) We give or take something to or from someone else

The passive and 2 objects
With the passive, you can use both ways. She gave the present to me. She gave me the present. I was given the present (by her). The present was given to me.
