1 Disaster plan we need to be prepared!
By: Gabriela Salas

2 We need to prepare for the worst
We need to prepare for the worst! Most of you may not know but california is at risk of having an earthquake and tsunami just like japan. Do to that we all need to prepare and that’s what I want to do give you tips on what to do if an earthquake and tsunami were to hit california. In this powerpoint I will tell you what are few good things to pack in an emergency kit, were to go if a tsunami were to hit and more.

3 Where should you go during an earthquake and tsunami?
If you are ever caught inside during an earthquake it’s best if you try to get under a desk or a table and away from any glass, heavy furniture or any thing that can land on you and hurt you. If you are outside try to stay in the open and away from buildings or heavy objects that can hurt or trap you. If a tsunami hits then it’s best to get to high ground as quickly as you can, and be very cautious because a landslide can happen.

4 where is there a good place for shelter in lindsay?
A good place for shelter would be a place with plenty of room and in Lindsay that place would be Mcdermott. If an earthquake were to happen we could fit plenty of people in that area, people that have lost everything. Schools can also be used as a shelter because are big and there are a lot of them all over town.

5 what services are going to breakdown and what are we going to do?
The first service to go out might be the power lines (electricity) and the water lines. If they do go out it is good to have an emergency kit with thing that can help you with live without and type of utilities. As soon as the earthquake is over and so are the aftershocks the companies or the city should try to fix those utilities as quick as they can.

6 what do you need to pack in an emergency kit
what do you need to pack in an emergency kit? I recommend that you keep an emergency kit in your house with the following things: flashlights extra clothes and shoes money fire extinguishers if needed medication extra batteries and a radio blankets something to use as an alternative cooking source a multipurpose tool if you need to shut of your gas or water charged cell phones your families contact info copies of your important documents( birth certificates, house deed, insurance policies, etc) bathroom essentials( tooth paste, tooth brush, etc) canned food gallons of water

7 what’s your backup plan?
I suggest that you plan for the worst, like if your shelter gets destroyed or you run out of food. I think that the best that you can do for an earthquake is to make sure that you have enough food and water and a safe and secure place where you family can be. For the government I suggest that they make sure that they are constantly checking up on the affected area and that they are doing whatever they do keep the population calm and under control.

8 How will the state, city, Gov
How will the state, city, Gov. communicate with us if theres no electricity? After the earthquake or tsunami it is most likely that the electricity goes out, well if the electricity how will the city be able to communicate with you to tell you what they are doing to help you. well you can have these forms of communication they can stay in touch with you better: keep charged cell phones radios nextel radios

9 How will we get places without roads or vehicles?
Well in my opinion I suggest that you try not to travel anywhere far until the state, city, Gov. tell you that it is fine to travel. It’s best this way because you won’t be putting yourself or family in danger. But if you need to go somewhere to near by like a shelter or a store or something I suggest that you walk that way you can see where you are walking and you can be more cautious about where you put your foot or where you pass through, because you don't want to put your foot in a pile of concrete form a building, you might get hurt.

10 How can I help those affected by the earthquake?
One way of helping the people around you that were also affected by the earthquake and tsunami, is by trying to help them stay strong and calm. You can also help them by giving them a loving hand, when they need something that you know that you have too much of offer them some, but don’t give them everything to the point where you don’t have any for your family.

11 always remember………. A disaster is what brought Japan together, if this were to happen the only thing that Lindsay would have is that togetherness. we would need to support one another not turn our backs on the people that need it the most.
