15.1 Define: communist, general strike How did the difficult postwar economic adjustments in the US affect workers? Workers were concerned about rising prices, the removal of factories to the South were labor was cheaper, and the refusal of employers to recognize unions. Who were the Bolsheviks? Bolsheviks was the name for the Russian revolutionaries led by Vladimir Lenin. Once in power, they attacked private property and tried to export their revolution to other countries.

4) What was the red scare? A widespread fear that communist revolutionaries in the US would commit violent acts and overthrow the government. 5) Who were Sacco and Vanzetti, and why were they remembered? They were two Italian immigrants convicted of and executed for murder. Many people questioned the legitimacy of their convictions, and their case raised many questions of justice and tolerance. 6) Why did Congress restrict immigration in the 1920’s? Nativism grew following the war. Many Americans feared the influence of foreigners, especially those from eastern and southern European nations, and thus Congress took steps to control immigration.
