Station #1: IR Station #2: Read and discuss “If You Are What You Eat” – focus on… Station #3: Review TED Talk (Native American Student from previous week) Review transcript and annotate for narrative elements (pacing, dialogue, anecdote, descriptive writing, etc.) Practice writing narrative from that perspective (modeling the writing you will be doing for Narrative Plea assignment)

Station #2: Read, annotate and discuss “If You Are What You Eat” (w/Ms. Curran) Station #3: Narrative Plea – review information and collaboratively write one (w/Dr. Spruill)

4 Station #2: If you are what you eat
Read and mark highlight descriptive language that speaks to the senses. Respond to Questions 1-4 If time, practice writing a claim in response to the following question: How does the writer use descriptive language?

5 Station #3: practice writing narrative plea
Read the two pieces of information gathered from informal research. Highlight things that could be used/things you find interesting We will read 1st one together and 2nd one you will scan for info with a partner. The voice: Teacher The audience: ? What do we want our audience to know? What is our claim? What elements are needed to create the plea? Let’s write! Statistic(s), descriptive language, pacing, dialogue (indirect or direct), anecdote, purposeful diction, descriptive language

6 Film Clip Friday: Symbolism in The Antwone Fisher Story
As you watch the clip, consider the symbolism. What is the symbol in this clip? What does it symbolize? What evidence in the clip supports that analysis?
