2. Simple Single Digit Subtraction
You have three dollars and spend one how many dollars do you have now?

3. Simple Multiple Digit Subtraction
Now let's try
First we start with the right side and compute 3-2 which is 1 so we write that under the 2. Then we move to the next column to the left and compute 2-1 which is 1 so we write that under the 1.

4. Understood Zeros
Now we are going to learn how to subtract with understood zeros. This is not as hard as it may seem. An understood zero is a zero that is placed in a subtraction problem that will not change the solution. Here is an example: 25
- 04 21
**The zero in front of the four is the understood zero in this problem. It doesn't change to outcome of this problem it is just there to aid you during the solving process to keep you on the right track.

5. Borrowing Now we have an issue. How do we subtract 12-6? Lets try: 22
-16
2-6=? Six is bigger than 2. In this issue we must borrow from the 1 next door.
So we have We can do that! That's just 6!
And on the left we are left with 1-1, remember we borrowed 1 from the 2, so 1-1 is 0. Hence, our answer is 6.

6. More Borrowing! Lets try another problem with borrowing! 54-28=?
Start at the right
Borrow from the 5
14-8=6
