Standard RL 1.1 Objective: Write a topic sentence and 2 supporting details A topic sentence tells what the paragraph is going to be about. Supporting details add meaning to the topic sentence.  A sentence needs a subject/noun and a predicate/verb. A sentence begins with a capital and ends with punctuation. Steps – Copy the blue lines of the tree map Read question 1A, write the answer in a complete sentence at the top of your paper on the line. This is your topic sentence. 2. Read question 1B, write three answer sentences on the detail lines. These are detail sentences. 3. Ask myself do the three details match the topic sentence? 4.
