Scientist Presentations
Print out a copy of your slides and staple them to the rubric. Hand in your paper copy when you present. Does anybody object to moving presentations to Fridays only? Scientist Presentations

Using your Activity series, predict what will happen in the following single displacement reactions:
Al(s) + NaCl(aq) → Al(s) + CuCl2(aq) → Cu(s) + AgNO3(aq) → Predict the products of the following double displacement reactions. Use coefficients to balance the chemical equation, if needed. 4. AgNO3(aq) + NaCl(aq) → Warm-Up

Decomposition Reactions
General form of a decomposition reaction is AX → A + X Decomposition of metal carbonates: ∆ CaCO3(s) → CaO(s) + CO2(g) Metal carbonate → metal oxide+carbon dioxide Decomposition Reactions
5
Decomposition Reactions
General form of a decomposition reaction is AX → A + X Decomposition of metal hydroxides: ∆ Ca(OH)2(s) → CaO(s) + H2O(g) Metal hydroxide → metal oxide+water (except group 1 metals) Decomposition Reactions
6
Decomposition Reactions
General form of a decomposition reaction is AX → A + X Decomposition of metal chlorates: ∆ 2KClO3(s) → 2KCl(s) + 3O2(g) Metal chlorate → metal chloride + oxygen Decomposition Reactions
7
Activity Series The activity series you used was simple.
The book (p. 266) contains a more detailed activity series. Very active metals react with cold water. Less active metals react with steam (but not cold water) Even less active metals do not react with water at all. Etc. Activity Series
