2 Objectives: We will apply the decision making process in planning the allocation and use of finances. We will demonstrate how to fill out a check, deposit slip and check register. We will demonstrate how to reconcile a check book. I will review how to reconcile a bank statement. I will correctly fill out a check, deposit slip and check register when given a scenario. I will correctly complete a bank statement reconciliation form using my check register and a bank statement.

3 Review: What are the parts of a check? Why do we use a signature?
What is the difference between currency and coin? What is the difference between a transaction amount and a deposit amount on a check register? Is the online information of your bank account an accurate depiction of how much money you have? Why or why not?

4 Review Continued: Why do we need to reconcile our checking accounts?
Should we do the same thing with our savings accounts? What happens if we write the wrong amount down in our check register? What does O/S stand for in the check register? What does a check mark stand for in the check register? Why do we need to fill out all parts of a check or deposit slip? Why do you need to keep a correct balance in your check register?

6 Your Bank Statement Arrives
Do you pay attention to the dates in the statement? Why or why not?

7 Reconcile Your Bank Account
Use the reconciliation worksheet on the back of your bank statement to reconcile your account. What information do you need from your bank statement to fill out the reconciliation form?

8 What parts must be filled out?
Hand out worksheet – Review Checking Account. Have students fill out the check to a local business, with today’s date, for $132.19

9 What parts must be filled out?
Using the worksheet – Review Checking Account have students deposit cash of $32.59 and a check of $125.00
