2 Monday, April 8 The interrogative mood asks questions. ​We see a question is being asked, which indicates that interrogative mood is being used. ​ Did you hear a noise? ​ What is going on? Writing Task: Define interrogative mood. Write two sentences of your own using interrogative mood. Label them interrogative.

3 Tuesday, April 9 In subjunctive mood, the subject gives a statement that is contrary to fact or wishes for something.  ​ If I were taller, I would play basketball. ​ I wish I were taller. ​ Writing Task: Define subjunctive mood. Write two sentences of your own using subjunctive mood. Label them subjunctive.

4 Wednesday, April 10 Imperative mood is used when a command is given.​ Note that the examples have the understood subject “you.” Examples​: Eat your food.​ Sit in your seat. ​ Do your chores​. Writing Task: Define imperative mood. Then write TWO sentences of your own using imperative mood. Label them imperative mood.

5 Thursday, April 11 The indicative mood is used to make factual statements or express opinions as if they were facts. ​Any verb tense may be deployed in the indicative mood.​ I saw something today that really annoyed me. ​ Vikings will be the new vampires in YA lit. Prosecutors have not said whether they will appeal the decision.  Writing Task: Define indicative mood. Then write TWO sentences of your own using indicative mood. Label them indicative mood.

6 Friday, April 12 Moods Can Shift Mid-Sentence
Example​: Raise your hand, and then can you ask your question? ​ "Raise" is imperative, while "can you ask"  is interrogative.​ Example: It is important to study; I wish I had a joined a study group. “It is” is indicative, while “I wish” is subjunctive. Writing Task: Write TWO sentences using a shift in mood in each. Label the types of shifts made.

7 The conditional mood indicates a conditional state that will cause something else to happen. Often uses the words would, might, could. If I were a morning person, I would eat breakfast. I might buy that if it is on sale. Writing Task: Define conditional mood. Then write TWO sentences of your own using conditional mood. Label them conditional mood.
