“The emergent text crystallizes new meanings selecting from the language and representations already within the intertextual space.” (139) “Viewing style as an outgrowth of genre-shaped emergent meanings provides a way of looking at revision as recognizing and heightening the expressive dimensions already taking shape in the earlier drafts.” (140)
