Lesson 5. 2. 1 – How do you describe a sequence
Lesson – How do you describe a sequence? - Generating and Investigating Sequences Objective - I will be able to identify a sequence as being Arithmetic, Geometric or neither. “Talent does not search for the person, in fact the person needs to search for the talent inside him and take it out to show the world.” ― Unarine Ramaru

Arithmetic Sequence: A sequence of numbers such that the difference between the consecutive terms is constant (the same amount). This common difference is represented with a value d. Ex; {-12, -10, -8, -6, -4, -2, 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10…} Equation to find any term of an Arithmetic Sequence – an = a1 + d(n-1) Where a1 is the first number in the sequence, d is the common difference and n is number of the term you wish to find the value of.
3
Geometric Sequence: a sequence of numbers where each term after the first is found by multiplying the previous one by a fixed, non-zero number called the common ratio. This common ratio is represented with a value r. Ex; {5, 10, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320, 640…} Equation to find any term of a Geometric Sequence – an = a1rn-1 Where a1 is the first number in the sequence, r is the common ratio and n is number of the term you wish to find the value of.
