Redo’s Tardy vs. Absent PBS – Positive Behavior Support
9th period PBS – Positive Behavior Support 9th period is an intervention time that takes place after school and involves the teacher and the student. Teachers can ask students to attend 9th period for a variety of reasons, i.e...behavior, coming unprepared to class, missing work, for any type of positive reasons, etc… Depending on the situation, 9th period usually doesn’t take longer than 3 minutes. Be Safe – enter and exit the classroom safely - keep hands and feet to yourself - use supplies appropriately Be Respectful – listen when the teacher or a classmate is speaking - raise your hand to speak - stay on task without disturbing or distracting others - no put downs or complaining - use manners - have a positive attitude Be Responsible - be on time - be prepared for class with the appropriate materials - always try - positively participate in class - complete all assigned work on time Redo’s Each student has the opportunity to redo any daily assignment that was turned in on time. These assignments can be redone outside of class (at home) and then handed in anytime within 2 weeks of the due date to improve their grade. Redo’s on assessments; 60% and below, the entire test will be retaken. Grades above 60%, students only redo missed problems. Assessment redo’s can only be done at school. Curriculum and Chromebooks Tardy vs. Absent We will be following a new Math curriculum this year called Illustrative Math. Students will not have a Math textbook this year. All of the curriculum will be online at im.openupresources.org. With an online curriculum, students will be responsible for a chromebook to access everything they need for Math. It is imperative that students charge their chromebooks every night in order to be successful for the next school day. A student late to class within the first 15 minutes of class will be counted tardy. A student missing more than 15 minutes of class will be counted absent. You will be considered tardy if you are not in the classroom when the bell rings. If you are late because you were talking to another teacher/administrator, you MUST bring a written note signed by that adult. Students are expected to use the restroom and get a drink during their passing time. Each student will be given a hall pass each 9 weeks to use for the restroom or their locker. If a pass has been used but a student needs to leave, that student will be required to show up for 10th period and make up missed time. If a student does not use their hall pass during a quarter, it will be worth extra credit.
