DS Support Technical Drill: Passing Review passing technique Pass to player at the next cone. Follow your ball Begin with around sides of square. Progress to pass diagonally across square. Coaching Points Passing technique: Open your hip and lock your ankle Strike the ball at the middle of the ball Appropriate weight and direction Pass, then move! Receiving Pass: Receive on the back foot Positive first touch

2 DS Support 3v1 Early Support 3v1 in the first grid. Defender tries to win possession and pass to a player in the other grid. When this happens, the defender joins the others in the other grid. An opposing player also joins the grid and becomes the defender Coaching Points Angle of support: high and wide Early support Support on both sides of the ball Move without the ball Open up and receive the ball on back foot

3 DS Support 4v2 Rondo 4 players on sides of a square 2 defenders in the middle Coaching Points Angle of support: high and wide Early support Move without the ball Open up and receive the ball on back foot

4 DS Support 3v2 Ball played in by defender Offensive players try to keep possession and score on one of wide nets Defenders try to win ball and counter quickly to score on big net (no goalie) Coaching points Angle of support: high and wide Early support Support on both sides of the ball Move without the ball Open up and receive the ball on back foot
