Ms. Andrea’s Newsletter
April 2019 What We’re Learning: April is going to be over before we know it. We will continue to focus on those preschool skills to help everyone prepare for kindergarten. You can help at home by continuing to count with your children and reading with/to them. Rhyming books are a great addition to your library. We are reminding the children of rules and expectations, especially expectations for the next year. We are not allowing as much calling out and are trying to get the students to raise their hands if they would like to share. When we go into the hallway we are stressing the importance of walking quietly. We have received a lot of compliments on our behaviors! Our Schedule: The morning class has a very consistent routine. We have added a few little “hiccups” to the day to help them adjust to change. They are doing a wonderful job The schedule for the afternoon class has been very fluid. In the upcoming months we will plan some visits to kindergarten to help them prepare for next year. We have been eating in the cafeteria a day or two each week so they can learn what to expect. We will hopefully be introducing an independent work station during our learning centers. The students will be expected to work on an activity independently or with a partner. Special Announcements: Wow! I am not sure where this school year is going, but it is flying by. For my afternoon kids, Kindergarten registration begins April 12th. You can now begin the registration process online. You will still have to submit all the required documentation to the office. Ms. Courtney’s will be staying home to prepare for her new baby. Ms. Marlene will be joining us on April 1st. I know the kids will love her. As the nicer weather moves in we will try to get outside everyday. If it seems a little cool please send in a light jacket/sweater for your child to wear. We will also be going through the spare outfits at school to see if anything needs to be exchanged for warmer weather clothes. As always, please make sure the clothes and jackets you send in are labeled with your child’s name. Please continue to check your child’s red folder daily. This is the best place to find out about their day. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Don’t forget to read with your child! Thank you for your support!
