What is citation? Citation is finding text from a book or article and putting it in your text with evidence of its source. It is a quotation or reference to another source.

What is citation in text?
This means that the author's last name and the page number from which the quotation is taken must show in the text.

Citation in-text examples
Human beings have been described as "symbol-using animals" (Burke, 3) We see so many global warming hotspots in North America likely because this region has "more readily accessible climatic data and more comprehensive programs to monitor and study environmental change . . ." ("Impact of Global Warming", 6).

Citation Strategy Summarizing: look over main points or events generally Paraphrasing: explain a piece of information in your own words Direct Quotes: taking the text from the original source, and putting it in quotations with a phrase like (John writes…)

Requirements When you are doing citations, you must include the quote with quotation marks Pay attention to these punctuations , : . Italicize the title of the book or magazine

Expectations When you are doing citation, you are expecting good and strong quotes that relate to the question you are answering. You also need to follow the citation rule You are also expected to show where you found the quote in a proper way.

Citation Rule Whenever you are citing something, make sure that you avoid plagiarism, because if you do that, then it will affect your grade.
