Honors Chemistry Homework
Sketch a graph of your pH curve. (include title and labeled axes!!!) Does your graph have specific regions? Identify the regions by labeling each of them with a letter
2
For your assigned region of the graph:
Describe (briefly) the effect adding NaOH has on the pH of that region of the graph Draw a particle diagram to model what is present in the solution Make a BCA table for that region, assuming 5 moles of HCl are present in our sample for the start
3
Titration analysis questions…
How would the calculated concentration of HCl be affected if… The volume of HCl released into the beaker was greater than mL? Less than mL 5 drops of base were released, changing the color of the solution, instead of 1 drop? The beaker you put your acid in had a few drops of water in it and wasn’t dry. Methyl orange (color change at pH = 4) were used instead of phenolphthalein (color change at pH = 9) Too much water was added when making the NaOH solution? Too little water was added?
4
Which point on the graph best represents the equivalence point of the titration?
What is the volume of base needed to reach the equivalence point in this titration?
