A thing or event that existed before or comes before another thing or event. Example: Example: The beliefs of the antebellum South carried over after the war in the form of Jim Crow laws. The decision to abolish slavery did not change their thoughts from before the war. Frayer models and practice sentences are antecedents to a vocab quiz. We do them before to help practice our words.

I denounced my sleazy ex-boyfriend in the cafeteria. I talked down to him and told him what a jerk he was for cheating on me.

Example: Example: Our conversation got carried away and turned into a dispute when we could not agree on whether cake or cookies were better. I fell while skateboarding, and when I looked down, I noticed my ankle was distorted and facing away from me. I realized it was broken.

Someone who is into their own thoughts and examines them closely. Someone who is reflective. Example: Example: The introverted child did not speak much to others, but rather, kept to themselves. They were more focused on their own thoughts. We are practicing being introspective when we reflect on major assignments, seminars, and on our opinions of novels.
