Dates to Know: *November 10th: 3rd grade concert @ 7 p.m. (Please have the kids here at 6:40 p.m.!) *November 19th: Family Reading Night @ 7 p.m. *November 20th: Early Release at noon *November 23rd & 24th: Parent Teacher Conferences Third Grade Fridge Facts November 2, 2015 What We’re Learning: Reading and Language: This week will begin comparing two stories by the same author. In doing so, we, the readers, will gain a deeper understanding of the characters. We will be reading My Rotten Red-Headed Older Brother and Thundercake by Patricia Polacco from our basal and instructional anchor texts. We will also be using our phonics readers and Six-Minute Solutions to continue improving our reading fluency. Writing: Last week each student chose one of their personal narrative drafts to finish. This week we will continue to edit our writing for spelling, punctuation & run-on sentences in order to publish a final piece. Math: Students will be reviewing multiplication and division facts with 6s, 7s, 8s, as well as two-step story problems, order of operations and multiplying with multiples of 10 in order to take the Unit 2 assessment this week. Next up…..units of measure and time!
