Today We will be taking part in a simulation on the lead up to the War of and we will determine if the United States should declare war on the British You will be working individually on a Chromebook and hearing the different opinions of several prominent Americans of the time You will figure out whether they are pro-war or against war After hearing where each person stands you will determine whether the country should go to war or not and we will vote on this as a class

What Actually Happens The United States declares war on the British
On June 1, 1812, President James Madison sent a message to Congress recounting American grievances against Great Britain After Madison's message, the House of Representatives deliberated for four days behind closed doors before voting 79 to 49 (61% in favor) the first declaration of war the Senate agreed by 19 to 13 (59% in favor).
