Physics: Motion Review
2
You must know all of your science Dictionary words.
Scalar Vector Speed Origin Displacement Position Velocity Average velocity Instantaneous velocity Uniform motion Slope Acceleration
3
Average speed
5
Acceleration
6
Ex.) Cole ran + 6 miles in 1 hour, what was his average velocity?
6 ÷ 1 = 6 Cole’s average velocity was + 6 Mph (miles per hour) Always put a unit of measurement in your answer! Always answer in a sentence! (This is not math class!)
7
Ex.) Cole ran + 6 miles in 1 hour, what was his average velocity?
6 ÷ 1 = 6 Cole’s average velocity was + 6 Mph (miles per hour) Always put in the direction if your answer is a vector! Use the direction the question gives you.
8
Ex.) Cole ran + 6 miles in 1 hour, what was his average velocity?
6 ÷ 1 = 6 Cole’s average velocity was + 6 Mph (miles per hour) Use the direction the question gives you! Cole’s average velocity was 6 Mph (miles per hour) to the right Cole’s average velocity was 6 Mph (miles per hour) to the east
9
Graphing Be sure you know how to make a position time graph.
What position time graphs mean. What does a fast object look like, an accelerating object, an object in uniform motion positive and negative direction
13
Newton’s laws You must know Newton’s Laws How does this relate
to the experiment we did in class “inertia and the unrestrained occupant.” Your rocket car.
14
Motion safety What are the safety features we talked about in class, how do they work? What affects reaction time? Why should you follow safety laws/ use safety features?
15
Impulse, Momentum
16
Study Past quizzes Your notes Your worksheets
In motion book, and textbook.
17
Format of physics portion
25 multiple choice 12 calculation questions (speed, displacement, velocity, acceleration, momentum) Graphing questions 10 marks short answer Total approx. 55 marks
18
Chemistry: Some key words to know
groups/families periods Alkali metals Alkaline earth metals Chalcogens Halogens Nobel gases ion compound
19
Molecular compound covalent bond
ionic compound ionic bond molecule binary compound subscript state multi-valent metal polyatomic ion
20
Atomic theory Know how to use your periodic table Ionic compounds vs. molecular Difference based on their bonds, properties, names and formulas think about it “What’s in a name?”)
22
Review Difference between Chem. vs. physical properties and changes
Atomic theory how to use your periodic table Periods vs. groups/families Five group/families Types of bonds Ions
23
Review Ionic compounds vs. molecular
Properties of molecular vs. ionic compounds. Binary ionic compounds Write names and formulas for Ionic compounds (binary, multivalent metals) Lab safety Distinguish between names of molecular and ionic compounds
25
Format (chem. section) 20 multiple choice 25 naming/formula writing
