Hydraulic Mulches: GeoSkin Series & HydraMatriCx Series
North American Green
8
Components Primary Fiber – Straw
Straw is pulpy and has moisture holding capabilities. The straw also helps shade the seed in the hot dry months. Straw also enhances the visual effects of the mulch.
9
Components Secondary Fiber – Reclaimed Cotton Plant Material (RCPM)
RCPM is processed to create the secondary fiber, which interlocks the mulch. The RCPM holds the straw in place. RCPM is water absorbent. It is a natural fiber that retains water.
10
Components Final Component – Proprietary Tackifiers
Glue that increases the performance of the hydromulch. The proprietary blend aids in mulch to soil cohesion.
11
GeoSkin® Hydromulch Series
Product line includes: GeoSkin® - Vegetation Establishment GeoSkin®XT – Veg. Est. & Erosion Control GeoSkin®XT has extra tackifier for: Stronger bonding Add performance (compared to GeoSkin®) Replacement for blown straw and wood, paper and blend mulches
12
HydraMatriCx ™ High Performance Series
Product line includes: HydraCM™ - Good Veg. Est. & High Erosion Control HydraCX2® - Cat’s Meow!!! HydraCM™ Replacement for single net blankets HydraCX2® - Replacement for double net blankets
13
HydraMatriCx™ Series Testing
NTPEP Large-Scale Rainfall Slope As outlined by ASTM D6459 2-, 4-, 6-in./hr rain events 3:1 (H:V) sandy loam slopes Results: HydraCM™: C-Factor = (99.7% effective) HydraCX2®experienced lbs of soil loss HydraCX2®: C-Factor = (99.9% effective) HydraCX2 product at the end of the 6 in./hr test

ShoreMax™ Features & Benefits
Flexible Easy installation for maximum performance Earth anchors NOT required – high specific gravity Integrated Panel Interlock System Interlocking seam for adjacent panels to help prevent seam separation
23
ShoreMax™ Features & Benefits
Non-buoyant Won’t float or uplift in submerged conditions Specific gravity = 1.45 Grip-lugs “Bite” into underlying material to prevent horizontal shifting Reduces shear plane
24
ShoreMax™ Installation
Installation guides available Typically installed with 10” staples Culvert designs Width = 3-4 times the pipe diameter Length = 4-5 times the pipe diameter See edits
25
ShoreMax™ Features & Benefits
“Soft” vegetative green solution Requires no heavy equipment to install Easier maintenance Greater safety for vehicles and pedestrians Increased water filtration compared to concrete
26
ShoreMax™ Performance Testing
Large-scale wave tank testing Remove the ShoreMax/P550 data
27
ShoreMax™ Performance Testing
Large-scale wave tank testing
28
ShoreMax™ Performance Testing
Large-scale ASTM channel testing NTPEP test at TRI facility Exceeded flow capabilities in 10% flume 6 lbs/sq ft Currently being tested in 20% flume
29
ShoreMax™ Recent Projects
ShoreMax™ mat culvert project; Installation through 4 weeks
30
ShoreMax™ Recent Projects
ShoreMax™ mat placed over seeded TRM ShoreMax™ mat placed over established vegetation
31
ShoreMax™ Installation
ShoreMaxTM should typically be used in conjunction with a TRM when Used in high scour, high shear areas Using seed to vegetate Most applications ShoreMaxTM should typically NOT be used with a TRM when Sod is specified Moderate areas where an ECB is being used When the product is submerged with no vegetation (use a geotextile underneath)
