***These are almost all the same as DEFINITE ARTICLES (el, la, los, las), which all mean “the.” The only one different is the singular masculine “lo.” Don’t get “el” and “lo” mixed up.

11. Where do DO pronouns go? Placed before the conjugated verb
I drink it. (water-el agua)-->Yo lo bebo.
If your sentence has a conjugated verb AND an infinitive verb, the pronoun can go before the conjugated verb or attached to the end of the infinitive.
I want to drink it.-->Yo lo quiero beber.
Yo quiero beberlo.

12. DO pronouns are commonly used in conversation when the object is established or known. Again, this avoids needless repetition.

Los veo en clase.
I see them in class.
¿Visitas a tu abuela con frecuencia?
Do you visit your grandmother often?

Yes, I visit her a lot.
Do not be misled into thinking that los and la in the above answers are the subjects of the sentences just because they appear in subject position. The subject of both answers, which is of course yo, is simply not expressed in these instances.

In negative sentences, the DO pronoun is placed between no and the conjugated verb OR it can be attached to the end of the infinitive.
Adolfo no la va a llamar.
Adolfo no va a llamarla.
(Adolfo is not going to call her.)

Positive informal commands:
if it is one syllable, attach it to the end
Ponlo (put it)-->doesn’t get an accent because “pon” is one syllable
if it is more than one syllable, add an accent to the second to last vowel
Mézclalo (mix it)-->accent goes on the second to last vowel
Negative informal commands:
place it between no and the verb
No lo bebas (don’t drink it)
