Plantation- southern large farms where cash crops were grown
Cash crops – crops grown mainly to sell to other colonies or countries. (Tobacco)
Manifest Destiny- the idea that the country should span across the continent.
Civil Rights Movement – in the 1960,s this was a movement for equality of rights for all.

Refugee – a person who flees from a country to seek shelter or safety elsewhere
Commerce – buying/selling of good especially when done on a large scale between cities, states or countries
