Integers Review Quick Review and Warm-Up You can copy for notes if needed.
2
Integers If a number does not have a sign, it means it is positive.
5-4 The positive number here is 5 The negative number here is 4
3
Integers Subtracting a negative is the same thing as adding. 6-(-3)
The two negatives next to each other become positive Therefore = 9
4
Integers At any time if a positive and a negative are together, it is always SUBTRACTION. 6+(-3) 6 is positive, 3 is negative Therefore 6 – 3 = 3
5
Integers At any time if a positive and a negative are together, it is always SUBTRACTION. 5+(-7) 5 is positive, 7 is negative Therefore 7 – 5 = 2 but wait…. How do we know if it’s negative or positive? Look at the bigger number! -7 is bigger Answer is -2
6
Integers At any time if both signs are the same, add! -5 – 3
5 is negative, 3 is negative The answer will be negative. 5 + 3 = 8, the answer is -8
7
Integers At any time if both signs are the same, add! -4 +(–7)
4 is negative, 7 is negative The answer will be negative. 4 + 7 = 11, the answer is -11

ANY QUESTIONS? Partner Practice – answer all on the whiteboard then compare your answer to the person next to you.
