Character The characters in A Midsummer Night’s Dream can be divided into three groups: the Athenian Nobles; the Mechanicals; the Fairies. These groups remain distinct despite their interactions throughout the play.

Use your character booklet to add to your notes. Collect key quotations for each character as you do so.

Theme/ Motif Using the character booklet as a style template, create a handout for your given theme. It should include: Notes on the different ways the theme is present/ explored in the play Any AO3 or AO4 that can be linked Key quotations Themes in A Midsummer Night’s Dream: Love and marriage Gender roles and relationships Theatre and performance (also: imagination and illusion) Order and disorder (also: dreams and reality; imagination versus reason; illusion versus reality; magic and the supernatural versus the natural, logical world) Motifs which add to themes in A Midsummer Night’s Dream: The moon Sleep and dreams Eyes and seeing Nature and the supernatural
