Opinion: Personal beliefs and impressions which may be true for one individual, but not for others.
Fact: Things that are real.
Subject Matter: Things represented in the artwork, such as figures and objects, as well as details about them such as size, distance, and color.
Shading: Variations in the dark and light of colors.

Draw your shoe using only lines. No shading.

4. Line Practice In your sketchbook, using half the page:
At the top of the page, write your own definition of line.
Use the next minute to create a pencil outline of a simple shape such as a purse, apple, tool, shoe, bottle, etc.

Cut out and paste the “Visual Elements: Line” hand out on the other half of the same page.

5. Chapter 4 starts on page 26 Look at Figures 4-8, 4-9, 4-10.
What sort of lines do you see?
Use one or two words to describe the characteristics (qualities) of lines used by the artists.
