The major historical event that Matthew Brady faced during his career as a photographer was the American Civil War. This was the war in the United States between the North and the South Brady witnessed brutal things and showed them through his photos.

Richard Avedon was inspired by his parents clothing business, as a boy he took great interest in fashion, especially enjoying photographing the clothes in his father’s store. He shot photos for Harpers, Bazaar, and Vogue Magazine.
