4 wield verb to hold a weapon or tool and look as if you are going to use it; to have a lot of influence or power over other people

5 acknowledge verb to admit or accept that something is true or that a situation exists

6 boisterous adj. noisy, energetic and rough, rowdy, clamorous

He made a facetious and tasteless remark about people in famine-stricken countries being spared the problem of overeating. Note: often has a negative connotation

8 ominous adj., portending evil or harm; foreboding; threatening; inauspicious There was an ominous silence. That man's angry threats are ominous; he may hurt someone. There were ominous dark clouds gathering overhead. Note: not “ominous for…” or “ominous of…”

9 wield verb, to hold a weapon or tool and look as if you are going to use it; to have a lot of influence or power over other people She was confronted by a man wielding a knife. He still wields enormous influence within the party.

10 acknowledge verb to admit or accept that something is true or that a situation exists He acknowledged having been at fault. They refused to acknowledge the new government.

11 boisterous adj., noisy, energetic and rough, rowdy, clamorous
He was exhausted after teaching a class of boisterous children. A large and boisterous crowd attended the concert. Note: although using “boisterous” to describe weather or storms is correct, it is a not a common usage.
