Political in purpose and drive Violent or threatens violence Made to have psychological repercussions past the immediate victim Conducted by an organization who has a chain of command They wear no uniforms Committed by a non-state entitity

The Taliban Came into power in Afghanistan in the 1990’s
Ruled the Afghan government until 2001 There ruling was based on the strict standards of Sharia Law The Taliban had ties with Al-Qaeda

Al-Qaeda Founded by Osama Bin Laden around 1988
Was killed May 1, 2011 Strict interpretation of Sharia Law and only allowed Sunni Muslims They wanted global Jihad Their most common form of attack is suicide bombings and synchronized target bombings
