What We’re Learning:
Reading and Language: Over the next two weeks, the students will be reading several stories in order to compare how characters’ actions in a story contribute to the sequence of events. In small groups, we will be reading Flight of Charles Lindberg. During whole group, our social studies unit will be focusing on geography skills, specifically using a map scale, intermediate directions, hemispheres, & the differences between maps and globes.
Writing: Our next unit, unit 4, focuses on fiction writing.
Math: This week students will be measuring with units of liquid volume, as well as telling time before & after the hour.
Second Step: Lesson #11: Emotion Management
Cursive: We are looking forward to starting cursive writing this week Although it is not a skill represented on the report card, it is important for fine motor and life skills. In order to get this skill in, we will be teaching it during our word work time. Students will still be working with these spelling words all week during Daily 5, but it is important they are completing their weekly spelling menu, as well!
