2 Region An area of land that is different from other areas due to its physical features, climate, people, or economy. The United States has 5 major regions

3 Can you name the different climate regions below?

5 Urban An area within the city where many people live, and where many businesses and industries can be found.

6 Suburban (or Suburbs) An area near major cities in which many people live and can drive to and from the major city for work.

7 Rural An area away from major cities in which there are few people living and working.

9 Economy The way a region, state, or country divides up and uses its money, goods, and services Examples of economies: Agriculture – farming and livestock Manufacturing – building things in factories Government – the way the government spends its money Fishing – fishing in large numbers for sale

High mountains (Rocky Mountains) and large plains The Rio Grande borders this regions and Mexico Mostly desert land
