Region An area of land that is different from other areas due to its physical features, climate, people, or economy. The United States has 5 major regions

Urban An area within the city where many people live, and where many businesses and industries can be found.

Suburban (or Suburbs) An area near major cities in which many people live and can drive to and from the major city for work.

Rural An area away from major cities in which there are few people living and working.

Economy The way a region, state, or country divides up and uses its money, goods, and services Examples of economies: Agriculture – farming and livestock Manufacturing – building things in factories Government – the way the government spends its money Fishing – fishing in large numbers for sale
