A Dedicated Teacher is... Effective Communicator! Fair! Curious!
Sets high expectations! Organized! Accessible! Empathetic!
3
What does a dedicated teacher look like?
Dedicated teachers are professionals who truly relate to their students. These teachers are caring and creative and can provide quality education to their students even with limited resources. They share effective teaching methods, materials and support. Dedicated teachers want to keep learning and sharing. They build their classrooms on respect, encouragement and strong standards.(Side, Ebersole, 2017).
4
Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions.
-Unknown A great teacher must be dedicated to their students, with an unwavering commitment to their education and well-being. (Benhayon, 2017). Well-rounded teachers are fascinated by the concept of learning, which in turn can rub off on students. If a teacher is continually asking questions and trying to learn more, she is showing genuine passion and love for her career.
5
“The reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way” (Oxford, 2018)
“desire to do; interest or drive”(Collins English Dictionary, 2012)
6
Motivated Teachers are
1. Lifelong Learners (Moore, 2015) 2. Create an Inspiring Atmosphere
7
“...findings imply that policymakers should encourage strategies that foster teacher autonomous motivation for promoting successful implementations of educational innovations” (Gorozidis & Papaioannou, 2014, p.1).
8
Motivation vs Code of Ethics
An ethical teacher does what is expected, while motivation will push that teacher to do more. “The Association of American Educators Code of Ethics identifies ethical conduct that should be demonstrated in four key areas involving: Students, Performance, Colleagues as well as Parents and Community” (Sharkey, 1994).
9
Pedagogical Excellence/ Liberal Democracy
Care/ Solidarity Obligation educators have for students’ safety and protection as well as maintaining positive work relationships with colleagues “Showing care for students means treating them respectfully while remaining mindful of their social and emotional well-being” (Maxwell & Schwimmer, 2016, p 477). Pedagogical Excellence/ Liberal Democracy An ethically successful educator designs challenging educational opportunities and maintains positive learning environments. Provides students with ownership in the operation of the classroom as an example of liberal democracy.
10
Integrity/ Reliability
Qualities of educators that will remain constant through time: Teacher behavior in will meet public expectations Teachers will remove negative influences on the teaching and learning of students. As stated in (CTC, 2016) they will follow through on their duty to collaborate with the appropriate individuals to support teacher and student learning.

Inspired Teachers and the Code of Ethics for Educators
The Code of Ethics for Educators demonstrates characteristics of an inspired teacher: Principle II: “The professional educator continues professional growth” (Sharkey). Inspired teachers know that their students’ success is representative of their own success. Principle IV: “The professional educator endeavors to understand and respect the values and traditions of the diverse cultures represented in the community and in his or her classroom” (Sharkey). Classrooms and students are not static and need to be in an adaptable environment.

Inspired Teachers’ Quotes
“I support finding innovative and creative ways to inspire kids to learn. I don’t teach to the test. I teach my kids content. And I make it as fun and exciting as I can” (The Inspired Teacher). “An inspired teacher can also ‘read’ students, situations, settings, and reactions and can select apt responses so that learning goes smoothly” (Frederick Steele 2010). “Transform future education to focus on teaching teachers how to create that magic then POOF we can make dead classes come alive, we can reignite imaginations, and we can change education” (Christopher Emdin).
