Monday 8/17 Warm-up: Revise the following sentences to eliminate the RIP words and correct grammar. 1. This quote shows dialect because it shows how the person talked in Northern California, but this helps develop the theme, because Lennie is telling George why the two of them were still together because both of them have each others backs. 2. They killed the dog because it was old and suffering as well it had odor and since Candy was around it all the time he got use to the smell and did not notice, everyone thought “that dog ain’t no good to himself” (Steinbeck 45) as well as that it was time to put it down because it was just suffering. 3. Steinbeck starts out the novella with Lennie and George camped along the Salina River, the setting is a warm cool place in California during the great depression.
