2. WHAT is Science Olympiad???
A school TEAM consisting of at least 15 students
Competing against other school teams in various science events
Kind of like being on a sports team, but you are using your -thinking, problem solving, & knowledge skills in: SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, & MATH

3. WHAT is Science Olympiad???
It is a rigorous academic interscholastic competition that consists of a series of individual and team events in all fields of science.
You choose an event and study hard toward winning a medal in that event at competition.

4. Categories of Competition
INVITATIONALS – (Local area, surrounding districts) considered “practice rounds” to prepare for Regionals
REGIONALS- (Local Regions around the State)
STATE- must qualify at Regionals to compete at STATE Level
NATIONALS- must qualify at State Level to compete at NATIONALS

5. Categories of EVENTS: Test Events Build Events Stations & Specimens
Lab (Experiment) Events
Compete in an event either as:
INDIVIDUAL
PARTNERS
EVENT SIGN UP:
6th Graders: 1-2 events per person
7th/8th Graders: 2-4 events per person

What the money goes toward: Regionals competition entry fee ($ 220 per team)
- Invitationals Competition entry fee ($ 110 per team materials & supplies needed resources (digital & tangible… dvds, cds, booklets, manuals, videos, almanacs…)
- cost of transportation (bus, vans, fuel $)

15. MEETINGS: Every other THURSDAY (unless specified otherwise…)
Time: 2:45-3:45 (1hour), in Room 2014 (Ms. Mapes Room)
