What We’re Learning:
Reading and Language: We have had a lot of fun learning and reading about fables. This week we will be wrapping up with the basal story Tops and Bottoms. Students will be working on vocabulary activities, cause and effect and sequencing. We will also be using our phonics readers to
Identify the characteristics of fables.
Writing: Our next writing unit will be opinion writing. Students will be discussing the differences between fact and opinion, as well as reading several examples of what great opinion pieces include!
Math: Unit 4 continues with exploring multi-digit addition. Throughout the week, students will be introduced to three addition methods so they will be able to choose which works best for them Please take some extra time to practice rounding to the nearest 10 and 100 at home. Thanks!
Second Step: Booster Week
Cursive: We are well on our way to earning those cursive licenses. We continue to encourage the students to write in cursive in everyday work, as well. The more they practice, the more proficient they will be at this skill!

**Because of the two shortened weeks, we will be practicing some more with plural endings (adding –es) and unusual plurals before moving on to a new skill next week. If your child is behind on spelling homework from the past two weeks, now would be a great time to play “catch-up!” You can always find a copy of the weekly spelling lists on the teacher website
