1
Speciation of the African Forest elephant
A scenario to use for the steps of speciation
2
Separation A tree cutting service cut down a section of the forest that a group of African Forest Elephants were living in. This forced them to be split into two groups. One of the groups lived in a dense plot of forest not close to any city or town. The other was forced to move to a plot of forest not far away from town that was known for there hunting.
3
Adaption The group that lived near the hunting town started to get hunted and their population slowly fell to an all-time low. The elephants tusks became genetically enhanced so that the hunters couldn’t get their ivory.
4
Division As a result of the adaptation, there are two different species of elephants. One with genetically enhanced tusks and one without.
