Sometimes you use adjectives to compare two or more people or things. There are two forms of adjectives used when comparing. Comparative Superlative

Comparative The comparative form is used when an adjective compares two things. Form the comparative by adding –er to most one-syllable and some two-syllable adjectives Example: The lion is heavier than the zebra.

Superlative The superlative form is used when an adjective compares more than two things. Form the superlative by adding –est to most adjectives. Example: The elephant is the heaviest animal in the jungle.

Comparative/Superlative
When you add er or est, the spelling of an adjective may change. Adjectives ending in e drop the final e. rare, rarer, rarest Adjectives ending in a consonant preceded by a single vowel double the consonant. flat, flatter, flattest Adjectives ending in y change the y to i. angry, angrier, angriest
