The National Woman Suffrage Association
Founded after the Civil War by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony. Pushed for a constitutional amendment to give women the right to vote.

Women Vote Late 1800’s. It began in four western states: Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, and Idaho.

Growing Support Support began to grow in the early 1900s.
Carrie Chapman Catt and the suffragists, or people who worked for women’s right to vote created a strategy to win suffrage state by state. It was successful.

The 19th Amendment Alice Paul met with Woodrow Wilson and by 1920 the Amendment had been ratified by three fourths of the states.
