1 Shift Key & Period Notes

2 Left Shift Key The left shift key is keyed with the A home key (left pinky) and is used to capitalize keys controlled with the right hand.

3 Right Shift Key The right shift key is keyed with the semi-colon home key (right pinky) and is used to capitalize keys controlled with the left hand.

4 CAPS Lock Key The caps lock key is used to type a series of letters, like a TITLE.  You would not depress the caps lock key just to capitalize one letter.  To depress a key, means to push, press, or hold down.   The caps lock key is struck with the A home key. 

5 Location of Shift Keys & Caps Lock

6 The Period The period is located on the bottom row and is struck with the L home key.  If a period is used at the end of the sentence then you should space two times after the period.  If a period is used with an abbreviation or initials (ft. or T. H. L.) then you would only space one time after the period.

7 Tab Key The Tab Key is used to indent; usually the beginning of a paragraph. Pressing the Tab key equals 5 spaces. This key is struck with the left pinky (A finger).
