Key features Preliminary flood risk assessment (2011) Past floods, and future floods including climate change according to the need of the Member State Flood hazard and flood risk maps (2013) Medium and low probability floods or extreme events Economic activity, population and environment (some pollution sources and protected areas) Flood risk management plans (2015) Member States set objective and develop plans, identify , prioritise and agree measures, new emphasis on flood plain management and sustainable land use practices Coordination in shared river basins

8 Way forward Develop a workprogramme for the implementation phase of the Floods Directive Linked to or part of the CIS, and by using structures proposed in the workprogramme , the focus can be on substance rather than structures/procedures Based on the ideas expressed in the 1st WG F meeting and further reflections required over the next few months, first ideas will be developed for the 2nd WG F meeting
