2 Agenda

3 CoP Communities of practice are groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly. Members engage in joint activities and discussions, help each other, and share information. They develop a shared repertoire of resources: experiences, stories, tools, ways of addressing recurring problems—in short a shared practice.

4 Communities develop their practice through a variety of activities
The following table provides a few typical examples: Problem Solving “Can we work together to create learning centers for the next unit”? Requesting Information “Where can I find resources for digital tools”? Seeking Experience “Has anyone dealt with a student that refuses to ______”? Sharing Assets “I have a Padlet on Formative Assessment. I can send you the link.” Coordination and Synergy “We can combine our resources and each of us pull together two ideas related to formative assessment tools.” Visits “Can we come and see your classroom? We need to see what formative assessment looks like in action.” Discussing Developments “What do you think about the new assessment application in BCPS One?” How do you use it?

5 Superhero Activity What are your super powers?
What special gadgets/tools do you have? Who are your sidekicks? Why are you a super hero?
