1. The SAMR Model

2. What is the Samr model? It was developed by Dr. Ruben Peuntedura.
SAMR stands form Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition.
This model provides a technique for moving through a lesson to find more meaningful uses of technology.

3. My example of SAMR Model
The Original Assignment: Learning how to serve a volleyball by listening to the coach or Physical Education Instructor showing you and then trying yourself.

4. Substitution
Instead of just watching the coach serve the volleyball in the gym, for the first level;
The coach/teacher videos the training exercise of serving the ball and uses the video as a lesson.
Now you can continue to watch this video multiple times even if the coach or teacher is not around.

5. Augmentation
The coach/teacher videos the training exercise and provides links to other training content.
The coach provides videos and articles about the power of a serve from other coaches and teachers.
Now, players can read up on content on how to better serve the volleyball overhanded.

6. Modification
The coach/teacher videos the training exercises and then “flips” the lesson.
This means that the coach would have students watch the video as homework, and then class time will be used to practice and reinforce techniques.
Now, players/students can watch themselves serving to see what he/she needs to improve to make the overhand serve more accurate.

7. Redefinition
Students will watch video examples and practice the techniques.
Then the coach/teacher will video them serving the ball to provide feedback about their techniques.
Feedback is enforced so that players/students can accurately serve the ball overhand with precision.
