Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs are: Children with developmental delays or disabilities, such as learning disabilities, sensory impairment, and mental retardation Children with ongoing medical conditions, such as diabetes, asthma, chronic renal disease, CF, congenital heart disease Children with emotional or behavioral problems such as autism and psychiatric disorders Serving children with special health care for many years….

Coordinate and contract for specialty clinics to reduce out of state travel and care Provide financial assistance for treatment and prescription drugs Provides resource, referral, and training opportunities for families and providers Coordinate statewide and local programs to prevent service gaps or overlap CSHS Activities

Partnerships with local communities provided regional pediatric specialty clinic access for 3437 Montana children & youth with special health care needs, a 10% increase from 2008. In 2009, 754 of those visits were to pulmonary clinics held in Missoula, Great Falls, and Helena for asthma and other respiratory conditions. 70% of visits were for asthma disorders During Calendar Year 2009
