Objectives: Copy, cut, and paste information within a spreadsheet

3 Copy, Paste, and Other Keyboard Shortcuts
Typical keyboard shortcuts, such as Control + C, and Control + V, can also be used to copy and paste information in Excel. Ctrl+C: Copy the selected cell(s) Ctrl+V: Paste the cell(s) at the selected location Ctrl+Z: Undo pervious actions Escape: Cancels a command

4 You can copy a range of cells, and paste them in a selected location.
Copy and Paste a Range of Cells You can copy a range of cells, and paste them in a selected location. Copy and Paste By default, the range of cells will be pasted using the same orientation as the copied cells. For example, if you copy a 5 by 3 area of the spreadsheet and then paste it, the paste location will be a 5 by 3 area.

5 Copy and Paste Select the cell(s) you would like to copy.
Copy the cell(s) (Use the ribbon, Ctrl+C, or right-click and select copy. Select the location where you would like to paste the cell(s). Paste the copied cell(s). (Use the ribbon, Ctrl+V, or right-click and select paste.)

6 Cut and Paste Using the Ribbon
1. Select the cell(s) you would like to Cut. 2. On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click Cut. 3. Use the Paste Ribbon command.

7 Cut and Paste Using Keyboard Shortcuts
1. Select the cell(s) you would like to Cut. 2. Press the Ctrl and X keys (Ctrl+X) to cut the cells. 3. Press the Ctrl and V keys (Ctrl+V) to paste the cells.

8 Cut and Special Insert The special paste command will insert the copied or cut cells between existing cells, instead of overwriting the cells. When cutting cells, the special command is the Insert Cut Cells command. There are many ways to do this process. The most important part is to click the Insert Cut Cells command. Here is one way: 1. Select the row. 2. Press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+X. 3. Select the row where you want to insert the cut row. 4. Right click on the selected cell and click Insert Cut Cells in the pop-up menu.

9 Other Paste Options There are many other Paste options available. For example, you can paste just the cell’s content or just the cell’s format.
