Of the 75 million wage earners in the US – 1.6 million earn the federal minimum wage, 2 million earn under $7.25 and that is 4.7% of all wage earners
65% of this 3.6 million population is between the ages of 16 and 19
The dominant industries are food service, maintenance and entertainment
Equal Pay
Women in general earn around 82% of what men earn. Three factors account for around 70% of that disparity. 1) more women in low paid jobs, less seniority in a given company or profession and more planned absences from the workforce
