Medication Reminder Policy…

Reminding to take medication…
Family Care will only remind consumers to take their medication, we do not administer medications as you are not licensed to do so. There may be times that employees will assist a consumer with self-administered medications. You may assist consumer with there blister packs and 7 day containers. You may not give any medication from a pill bottle, even over the counter. Any questions, please call the office.

Eye drops / Ear drops… Employees are not allowed to give eye drops or ear drops. Employees are allowed to assist the consumer with the drops but not give them.

Topical Patches… Employees are NOT allowed to apply topical patches.
If you have any questions about these topical patches call the office.

Assisting with medication…
If at any time you are uncomfortable assisting a consumer with a task, please contact the office. Remember, aides are not to touch medication or move medication within a consumer’s residence.

Missing medication… If you notice or a consumer tells you that pills are missing, wrong pills, pills not taken, you must notify the office. Family Care and the authorities will do an investigation to find out where the missing medication has gone.
