11. Keep it simple Action verbs Avoid needless extra words
Avoid or at least define jargon – people outside your unit read and it needs to make sense

12. 750 Words can allow you to make your case…
Do not write about every class/course you have taught unless there is a reason…
Use a narrative to link your research, teaching, and service

13. Evaluations Interpret your SEI’s
Emphasize positive trends – can you link to something you did to improve your teaching?
You can think statistically about your scores – who really cares if you go up .1; think about the jumps/trends in scores
Also consider individual items. The professor is organized – did you specifically address an area and your scores improved.

14. Contemplate your peer evaluations
Can you tell your story using both SEI’s and peer evaluations?
Can you have an expert external to the university evaluate your course and add that to the story?

18. Invest time on your narratives and use them to explain what you are doing and why it is important.
