9 Narratives Noteworthy Accomplishments– Graduate Students
Noteworthy Accomplishments – Undergraduate Students Curriculum Development Items implemented from the Teaching Support Program or Endorsements

10 Organization Use CAPS, bold, italics TEACHING PHILSOPHY:
Where I started; what went right; what went wrong; what I did to improve; did it work?

11 Keep it simple Action verbs Avoid needless extra words
Avoid or at least define jargon – people outside your unit read and it needs to make sense

12 750 Words can allow you to make your case…
Do not write about every class/course you have taught unless there is a reason… Use a narrative to link your research, teaching, and service

13 Evaluations Interpret your SEI’s
Emphasize positive trends – can you link to something you did to improve your teaching? You can think statistically about your scores – who really cares if you go up .1; think about the jumps/trends in scores Also consider individual items. The professor is organized – did you specifically address an area and your scores improved.

14 Contemplate your peer evaluations
Can you tell your story using both SEI’s and peer evaluations? Can you have an expert external to the university evaluate your course and add that to the story?

15 Improving Teaching What have you done to evaluate your teaching?
How did you use the evaluation results? Have you assessed your efforts Demonstrate continuous improvement: Identified gaps, pursued learning and applied learning to next class and evaluated outcomes…those that worked – ok; those that did not keep going…

16 Research Narratives Focus of the Candidate’s research, scholarly or creative work, major accomplishments and plans for the future including works in progress Description of quality indicators of your research, scholarly or creative work such as citations, publication outlet quality indicators such as acceptance rates, ranking or impact factors of journal or publisher
