Geologic Eras There are several key periods you need to know:
Precambrian (600 MYA and before) 85% of Earth’s time Oldest Period Antelope Island has some of these rocks Paleozoic Era ( MYA) Means Ancient Life This is where we started to get fossil fuels Oil, natural gas, coal, etc. Mesozoic (240 MYA-65 MYA) Time of the Dinos Rockies just forming Cenozoic Era (65 MYA – Now) Got colder, Dinos died out Ice Age, many glaciers in Utah Mammals become the dominant species
