News from Miss Gannuscio
News from the Jungle 3/14/16 Math Early on in the week, we will continue to work on measuring with nonstandard units. Later in the week, we will move on to data interpretation. Students will be learning how to look at the data in a graph and will be able to compare information provided! News from Miss Gannuscio Please check with your student to see if they need any more school supplies. I have quite a few students who do not have pencils, crayons, glue, paper, and even scissors. This really puts a damper on classwork, as those students either can’t complete their work, or they spend the entire time searching for someone to borrow supplies from! Scholastic order forms and money are due Friday, March 18th. If your student would like a book from the flyer this month, please make sure to send the form and the money in on time. I will be placing the order after school on the 18th, and if I receive a flyer after the turn-it date, it will not be ordered until I submit next month’s flyers! Remember! If your student receives any test scores below a 65%, please have them make corrections and return it to me as quickly as possible. Please make sure that you sign the test or mark it as corrected! If this is done I will add a few extra points to the test to boost your student’s grade. Spelling We are now on week 28: Spelling List: Challenge List: Used Swimming Hopped Write Hoping Grabbed Running Raced Writing Mixed Above Above Even Even Teacher Teacher Studied Studied Pushed Pushed Please have your student practice writing sentences using these words as that will help them prepare for that portion of the test!

Reading and Language Arts
This week we will be reading The Art Contest, The Dot, and Artists Create Art. We will begin the week by practicing comparing and contrasting characters within The Art Contest. In the middle of the week, students will work on their own to compare and contrast our main character in The Dot. In Language Arts, we will be working with words that end in –ed and –ing, as well as long /e/ words with (y) and (ie). We will also be learning about idioms. Science We are going to have a lot of fun in science this week! We will be completed two different labs. Both of our experiments have to do with movement and students will be seeing how different surfaces affect the movement of objects. Writing This week we are on to opinion writing! Students will be learning how to back up their stances with valid reasons! We will also be learning about exclamatory statements and how to use exclamation marks appropriately in our writing. Upcoming Events: March 28- April 1 – Spring Break
