3 There are three different kinds of acknowledgement through referencing.
In-text referencing Footnotes and Endnotes Reference List/Bibliography

4 In-text referencing WHEN?
When quoting the work of another person. Identifying the ideas, texts, diagrams, tables and images of another person. This includes: - direct quotes/sentences quoting just a few words using the ideas of someone else in your own words HOW?

5 Footnotes and Endnotes
WHEN? Usually used in literature, the arts and history. Can be used along with or as an alternative to in-text referencing. HOW?

6 Reference List/Bibliography
WHEN? A reference list is a complete list of all the publications you refer to in your work. A bibliography is the same as the reference list but also includes publications not directly referred to in your work. HOW? It is a comprehensive list placed at the end of your work.

7 Creating your Reference List/Bibliography
Publisher, Place Author Date Title The example below shows a full reference to a source with the basic elements in bold. The references should be listed in alphabetical order. 1 Author’s name: surname followed by first name. 2 Date of publication. 3 Title of publication. 4 Publisher. 5 Place of publication.
